New marine museum in Palma

New marine museum in Palma

These days historic sail boats are being displayed in the Parc de la Mar. The exhibition in the "lake" in front of the Cathedral is to announce the soon to be expected opening of Palma's new marine museum.

Splendorous historic sail boats, which anchor in front of the impressive backdrop of the Cathedrale of Palma – a more beautiful scenario for a boat exhibition is hardly imaginable. Surely that is what Mallorca’s island council thought, as they planned to inaugurate a boat exhibition in the lake of the Parc de la Mar. An announcement of the inauguration of the Maritime Museum, which is going to be opened in the former quarters of the port authority soon.

Boat exhibition in front of Palma’s Cathedral

At the exhibition historic ship models and models of the yachts of famous people can be seen. Those are supposed to attract visitors to come to Palma – combining their stay in Palma with a visit of its old town and the Cathedral. Head of the Museum Albert Forés considers it an exhibition of high-quality, but he was not able to determine the amount of boats that will be exposed in front of the Cathedral.

New Maritime Museum in the port of Palma

The inauguration of the Maritime Museum “Museu Marítim de Mallorca“, is due to take place in spring 2019. The museum will be distributed over various areas and buildings in the Parc de la Mar and the port of Palma. Those who love boats and visitors of Mallorca’s capital may consider themselves lucky, because in the near future they will have plenty of possibilities to see high-class boats in the Parc de la Mar. The lake is planned to be used frequently as an exhibition area with moorings.
