Mallorca's almond blossom has started!

The mild winter in Mallorca ensures that the buds of the almond trees are already opening and the island blooms in a white sea of ??flowers. Well into February, the white and pink flower carpets cover the island and exude their delicate fragrance. There are said to still be around four million almond trees in Mallorca, most of the gardens are at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana, because the fields are fed by the mountains water sources. The blooming beauty is particularly impressive on the way from Palma to the mountain village of Valldemossa in the Tramuntana mountains.

The most beautiful routes along the almond blossom
The natural spectacle can be enjoyed in several areas on Mallorca, most beautifully on a bike or a hiking tour through the almond blossom. Sometimes they are whole almond plantations like on the road from
Mallorca Fashion Outlet to Bunyola and further on to the Sóller tunnel. The route from Santa Maria to Alaró and continuing to Lloseta and Mancor de la Vall to Caimari is also worthwhile. Here the almond blossom shows up in front of the impressive Massanella mountain - a top photo opportunity! In the interior of the island between Vilafranca and Montuiri and in the southeast of Mallorca between Santanyí and Felanitx and continuing to S’Horta, the white flowers decoratively stand out against the bright blue winter sky.

Almond blossom fair in Son Servera
Mallorca's almonds are still used to make numerous specialties, such as turrón,(a nougat-like delicacy) honey, liqueur, milk and almond oil, which is also used for soap and creams. With
Flor d’Ametler, the almond blossom perfume, you can take Mallorca's fragrance home in a bottle. The island's perfume is made from hand-picked almond blossoms, and the Pont d’Inca factory has a guided tour of the perfume factory every Wednesday at 10 a.m. and 12 noon (in English and Spanish). Another attraction is the almond blossom fair in Son Servera in northeast Mallorca on February 2nd. At the stands you can try all specialties from almonds, their flowers and almond oil.
