Magical New Year's Eve on Mallorca
Christmas belongs to the family, New Year's Eve is celebrated with friends - this custom also applies to Mallorca. For the noche vieja, the New Year's Eve, the Mallorcans often reserve a table weeks in advance to start the New Year with dinner, live music and grape dinners - for example in a chic restaurant like the Mar de Nudos on the pier in Palma or in the Congress Palace on Paseo Marítimo, where a big New Year's Eve ball takes place.
12 grapes to 12 bells
But even without a gala dinner, the turn of the year on Mallorca can be celebrated in style. On New Year's Eve, stroll through the old town of Palma, have a few tapas in one of the many bars and be punctual at midnight on the Plaça Cort in front of the town hall with the beautiful clock. To eat twelve grapes with the Spaniards for the twelve bells and to wish for something beautiful for the new year! You can also party at the Paseo del Borne, where a stage with live music is also set up. Lovers and romantics should go for a night walk on the city wall along the Parc de la mar, overlooking the cathedral and the flashing lights in the port of Palma.
Majorca's highlight: Holy Three Kings
Fortunately, the New Year's Eve party in Majorca is not over yet, because on the 6th of January the Magi arrive - and many children will receive their presents that very day. Already the evening before, the 5th of January, there are many places in Mallorca on the move. The largest takes place in Palma, where in the early evening at the Old Mole create the wise men from the East with their ship. Then they move through the city in lavishly decorated bodies over the Paseo del Borne and La Rambla and give gifts to young and old with sweets and chocolate.
