At Christmas time Mallorca is especially beautiful
Blossoming Christmas stars, trees full of ripe oranges, mild 16 degrees and a festively decorated Palma: In Advent Mallorca is particularly beautiful. On the 28th of November, the Christmas lights in Palma's city centre will be festively ticked - in time for the shopping event Black Friday a day later. Many families gather for the ceremony from 19 clock on Palma's boulevard Paseo del Borne and then walk through the streets dipped in romantic light. Big baubles and white stars shine over the heads of the strolling people, so shopping in the small shops and luxury boutiques is even more fun.
Hot chocolate and a walk by the sea
Christmas shopping also includes a visit to the Churreria, as Mallorcas cafes are called, in which it smells of freshly baked donuts in winter. Classically, you dive the churro into a cup with thick drinking chocolate and bite off with pleasure - a feast for big and small sweet tooth’s. Also outside of Majorca's capital, the island shows its winter charm. During a walk on the dream beach Es Trenc, you can enjoy the sun and the light and enjoy the view of the sparkling sea. It only smells a little better in the countryside, where the salty sea breeze mixes with the spicy smoke of the fire. In the villages, simple restaurants invite to a hearty meal by the log fire, a great opportunity to discover Mallorca's gastronomic diversity.
The most beautiful Christmas markets of the island
A visit to the Christmas market is definitely part of Advent in Mallorca. The island's largest Christmas market is in Palma city centre. Plaça Major, Plaça d'Espanya and Las Ramblas have several hundred stalls open (21.11.-6.1). Other Christmas markets: in the Pueblo Español in Palma (5-15.12.), In the port of Puerto Portals (18.12.-6.1. with ice rink, children's workshops, concerts), in the Plaza de España in Andratx.
