The Zaranda Restaurant in Mallorca gets its second Michelin star
The restaurant Zaranda, which is under the direction of chef Fernando Arellano in Castell Son Claret, has been given a second Michelin star and is thus the only two-star restaurant in the Balearic Islands.
In a solemn ceremony, the winners were announced on the 25th of November 2015 in Santiago de Compostela. Only two restaurants in Spain have recently been awarded: Restaurant Zaranda (Mallorca) and the Coque restaurant (Madrid).
Along with these two new award-winning restaurants, Spain has now 18 restaurants which have been awarded with two Michelin stars.
According to Michael Ellis, director of the ensnared Guide Michelin, Fernando Arellano got its second star thanks to "his signature cuisine, its excellent technology, the quality of the regional products, which spoil the palate with amazing and surprising flavor compositions."
